Much has been spoken about Natalie Wood's relationship with Robert Wagner — a bond that could only be broken by tragedy. But, there's a lot more about Wood's marriage to British producer Richard Gregson that the world doesn't know.

The actress divorced Wagner in April 1962. Seven years later, in 1969, she got married to British producer Richard Gregson, with whom she had been in a relationship for two and a half years. When she met Gregson, there was an instant spark. Before becoming a producer, he was an agent and worked alongside actors like Robert Redford, Julie Christie, Alan Bates, and director John Schlesinger.

They had a fancy wedding on May 30, 1969, amid much glitz and glamor. In the HBO documentary, ‘Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind’, Wood was said to be protective of her personal life. A happy couple, their home was frequented by many celebrity friends and was the hub of lively parties, attended by the likes of Fred Astaire and Sir Laurence Olivier.

Wood lived amid much affection and love while she was married to Gregson. Fondly reminiscing their marital life, Gregson said, "I think about the serendipity of our romance together." Soon, she was pregnant. In the documentary, we find out that Wood "chose" to have a baby. She didn't just get pregnant but wanted to have a baby. When the little on, Natasha came into her life, she became too focused on her and engrossed in taking care of the baby's little steps.

During that period, Gregson started to feel aloof and he made a mistake. Wood overheard an inappropriate telephone conversation he had with her secretary and was furious. Shedding light on that incident, Gregson said in the documentary, "In her eyes, I saw, 'Youuuuuu son of a b***h,'" and added, "She had a pretty good temper and when she let go, she let go."

During their separation, her family wanted her to reconcile with Gregson. However, the divorce was finalized in April 1972 and she flew back into the arms of Wagner. Even after her death, Gregson feels lucky to have been a part of her life. Putting the missing pieces of her life back together, the docuseries, 'Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind: Season 1' premiered on HBO on May 5 at 9 pm ET.
