Natalia Suero: NC mother who faces murder charges for drowning her 2-year-old son says he was 'possessed by demons'
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: A North Carolina woman who has been accused of drowning her 2-year-old son in 2022 told police that the boy was "possessed by demons." Natalia Suero said she was happy that her son was now "in a different place." In connection to the death of her son Jonathan Suero, the 39-year-old woman has been facing first-degree murder charges.
On March 12, 2022, Suero signaled an off-duty officer in Park Road Park to stop and told the officer that her child was in the pond and that he had not been breathing. The officer then went along with the woman to the pond and found the young boy "face up floating in the pond." Until the medical responders arrived and shifted to the hospital, the officer performed CPR on the boy. Jonathan was taken to the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, reported Law and Crime.

Sureo gave 'vague and inconsistent statements'
Sureo gave suspicious responses to the questions from the investigators after the incident. According to detectives, she gave "vague and inconsistent statements" about the drowning. Suero even claimed that she had "blacked out," and was unable to give them a proper timeline of the happening that led to her boy being in the pond.
Suero later said that while she tried getting Jonathan's stroller out of the car's trunk she lost sight of him and eventually saw him running toward the pond. She claimed that he got to the water before she could catch him and made it impossible for her to locate him underwater.
Natalia said 'she knew how to get rid of' her son's demons
Suero who was interviewed for a second time gave a series of disturbing responses regarding Jonathan's death. With her narrative being changed, the newly released warrant stated, "This time her story differed. She advised that she was headed to a Publix grocery store and couldn’t advise where one was close to the park," and added, "Detectives verified that there are no nearby Publix grocery stores. They also noted that she drove past a Harris Teeter Store to get to the park."
In the second interview, Suero initially told the investigators that she did catch up to Jonathan but he "struggled, got away from her, and floated away, all while at a depth over his head." When she was questioned about the inconsistencies in her statements, Suero said that her toddler son was "teleported from her to where he was found by Jesus," and stated that she believed that the 2-year-old boy "was possessed by demons and that she knew how to get rid of them."
