MIAMI, FLORIDA: Natalia Harrell, 24, a pregnant woman from Florida, was charged after she fatally shot Gladys Yvette Borcela in an Uber in July 2022. The 24-year-old, who killed the mother-of-three, is requesting a release, stating that her unborn child has not committed any crime.
The mother-to-be claims that she is not receiving adequate prenatal care and is locked up in jail unlawfully. Meanwhile, Harrell's attorney William Norris has claimed that Harrell shot the Borcela during an argument between the duo so as to protect the baby. What exactly happened in July 2022?
Borcela, 28, was one of the seven passengers in the Uber along with the accused Harrell, 24, when a fierce argument broke out between the two. The mother-to-be was with a group of men at a South Beach nightclub who asked her if they knew anyone who would like to join their group. Though Borcela was invited, Harrell started getting irritated with Borcela after she started to "drink and dance". After this, a verbal spat occurred, eventually leading to a physical fight that culminated in the shooting that left the mother of three dead. Before Harrell took out the gun, she could be heard saying, "You don’t want this; you don’t want me to go in my purse."
After the incident, all six passengers fled the scene, and Borcela was pronounced dead when she reached Jackson Memorial Hospital, as per New York Post.
