A 47-year-old nanny from New York who attempted to kill her employer's child by shoving a baby wipe down his throat sobbed in court on Monday and claimed her innocence before she was sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
The nanny, identified as Marianne Benjamin-Williams, was sentenced for attempted murder and strangulation as she tried to kill two-month-old Maxwell Bletreich in May 2017 while caring for him in his family's apartment in Manhattan, according to the Daily Mail. A jury found the 47-year-old guilty last month.
Benjamin-Williams was sentenced on Monday to 15 years for attempted murder, strangulation, criminal possession of a forged instrument and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the outlet.
