Although Spain is on lockdown in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, which has stalled most of the major countries of the world, a woman stripped naked and ran around the length of a street before straddling on the top of a police car.

After the Spanish government launched a campaign on social media, urging its citizens to show their appreciation for the health workers who are risking their lives every day to treat the people infected by the deadly virus, people in Spain have been rushing to their windows, balconies, and terraces at 8 p.m. in the evening to clap for the unsung heroes.

When the locals in Torremolinos were about to observe what has now become a quarantine tradition, an unnamed woman annoyed her neighborhood by streaking and "running around" in the evening when people were paying their respects to the emergency and essential workers.

The woman was first reported to be fully clothed when the police arrived. As authorities tried to arrest her for flouting lockdown rules, she resisted being taken into custody and began to strip. By the time she reached court, she was totally naked.

She was released on bail on the same day. After she was set free, she celebrated by climbing on top of a police car. She was hit with a truncheon and tackled by three police officers before being transported to an ambulance which was waiting at the scene.

A video posted Monday by Diario AS showed the woman standing naked on top of a police cruiser outside a police station in Torremolinos.

"A lot of people don’t seem to be aware how strict it is in Spain," President of Benidorm's British Businesses Association, Karen Maling Cowles told Sun Online Travel. "The children have been stuck in their homes for a month, they aren’t allowed out at all - not even to the supermarket. Those who have dogs are allowed to walk them a maximum of 100 meters from their homes and no one goes out for exercise. I saw a clip on social media of a girl jogging recently and everyone from the tower block behind her was cheering the police as they slammed her to the floor.”

The lockdown orders imposed in Spain are currently stricter than they are in the United Kingdom. It's been weeks since the children have been allowed to go outside to play and there are stringent rules against adults going outside to exercise.

Certain rules have been laid down in place about which supermarket one is allowed to visit to pick up groceries or daily household items. Even then, they cannot travel in groups to shop in stores. A person can leave their house to run essential errands like food and medicine shopping or to visit the bank only if they go alone.

Even then, citizens are subjected to questioning by the police and members of the army who are posted on regular checkpoints around cities.
