The president of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has sparked social media outrage after he said there is "no such thing as Blue lives" following the recent ambush shooting of two Los Angeles sheriffs.

On Saturday, September 12, Bishop Talbert Swan, a Pentecostal preacher hailing from Springfield, Massachusetts, took to Twitter to write a post after two officers were ambushed and shot in Compton, LA. Swan's tweet had read, "There's no such thing as BLUE LIVES..." "Stop comparing your JOB with my LIFE... Your CAREER is a choice, my BLACKNESS isn't. #BlackLivesMatter #BlueLivesMatter," the tweet continued. He said that there were double standards when it came to the shooting of the police and the protesters. However, Swan deleted his tweet after receiving massive backlash online.

Swan's comments were slammed across social media with many calling him out. One such user wrote, "You should be ashamed of yourself, absolutely ashamed of yourself turning this incident around the way you have. This crime is not about racism or black versus white. It’s about two people who were shot in the head by a criminal."

Another commented, "You ever hear all lives matter? That would cover all of those you just mentioned but seeing that you think black lives are more important than any other lives I can understand why you are blind to the fact that all people's lives matter!" An outraged user took to Twitter to share, "You are by far, leaps and bounds, the most racist person I have ever seen, in person or from a far. You are everything you hate. You are the thing you are fighting against. You hate yourself. Its the only thing you are right about."

"If you think shooting cops at point-blank range is the same thing as defending yourself from a mob you are mentally challenged," wrote another. Yet another social media user commented, "Another false prophet. Surprise. Your life? Why is your life more precious than any other? Do not all lives matter? You spew hate and non tolerance. It is easy to just tune you out. You are like flatulence in the wind. God bless the LEO."

The police in Los Angeles are on the lookout for a Black man who appeared to be between the ages of 28 and 30. The man was seen walking up to two deputies in their car in Compton and shooting them at close range. One of the deputies who was been identified as the 31-year-old mother of a boy, 6, was shot in the jaw and arms. She is said to be in a critical but stable condition.

The other deputy, a 24-year-old man, was struck in the forehead, arm and hand. Neither of the names of the officers shot has been revealed to the public. The department informed the public in a series of tweets, saying, "Update: One male deputy and one female deputy were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. They are both currently undergoing surgery. The suspect is still at large."
