FRESNO, CALIFORNIA: A woman from Fresno, California, who was 36 weeks pregnant, reportedly died after being brutally stabbed to death and set on fire in an alley by her brother. Her brother is now in custody. In a news conference on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, Fresno Police Department Chief of Police Paco Balderrama identified the woman as N-Kya Rebecca Logan, 26.
Balderrama said that around 12.30 pm local time on Tuesday, December 13, the Fresno Fire Department and FPD were alerted about a fire on an unpaved alley on the 4400 block of North Cornelia Street. "When they arrived they saw a victim who had been set on fire, completely engulfed in fire," said the police chief.

Authorities detained her brother, Aaron Jamal Dudley, 41, after they were able to collect "multiple pieces of evidence." Balderrama said that he and Logan shared a residence and that the accused suspect is related to the tangible evidence discovered at the crime site. "We have several witnesses who saw the fire, but one witness who actually took a picture of a person who we believe is the suspect standing over the body. Several surveillance videos which show the suspect pushing a trash bin. We believe the victim was inside the trash bin. She was taken to the alley before she was set on fire," he said, according to People.
In the 4400 block of North Cornelia Street, next to an apartment complex, a maintenance team found Logan's burned body on Tuesday afternoon, according to ABC30. When police were summoned to the site, a witness reported seeing a suspicious individual drive a rubbish can along an unpaved road close to the housing complex before lighting its contents on fire. Detectives were able to get a search warrant on Logan's home where she lived with her mother and Dudley. They determined that Dudley stabbed Logan multiple times with a sharp object while they were inside their home, the report mentioned.
Balderrama said Logan planned to name her baby son Noah. The child did not survive after being stabbed multiple times inside the uterus, according to the chief. Investigators believe Dudley repeatedly stabbed his younger sister with an edged weapon, dumped her body in the city trash bin, wheeled the container four blocks to the dirt road, doused the corpse with gasoline, and set it on fire. Police did not say what could have motivated the killing, but they did reveal that officers were previously called to the siblings’ home on July 28, 2021, when Logan complained that she feared for her safety.
Balderrama said that in that incident, Dudley was deemed to be a threat either to himself or others and was placed on a 72-hour hold, New York Post reported.
Dudley is now facing two counts of murder as his sister’s unborn baby likely could have survived outside the womb, officials said. “It takes an awful lot of evil, hate, and planning to stab your own sister multiple times,” Balderrama said at the press briefing, adding that he has not stopped thinking about this case since first learning of it.
