'My 600-lb Life': From 700lbs to having sex 'seven times a day', a look at Pauline's weight loss journey
Pauline Potter came to the show weighing nearly 700lbs. Her weight made it possible for her to carry on with her day-to-day activities and left the entire burden on her son to take care of her.
Pauline's weight even made her wheelchair-bound as she was unable to walk freely. To make things worse, lymphedema on her leg made it impossible for her to take even a few steps.
When Pauline first appeared on the show, she revealed that because of her weight she held a Guinness World Record in 2011 for being the World's heaviest woman.
While her weight earned a Guinness World Record, it did not earn her a happy life. Pauline was not happy that her weight had put all the burden on her son and wanted to make sure that her life is turned around.
She decided to enroll herself in Dr Younan Nowzaradan's weight loss program with the hope that he could help her lose the weight that has been bothering her so much.
When she first came to meet Dr Nowzaradan, he had asked her to be on a strict diet but she failed to keep up as her food cravings got a hold of her.
This led Dr Nowzaradan to warn her about the complications she will have in the future due to her weight. This was a wake-up call for Pauline as she started working towards losing the weight.
While she managed to lose a shocking 100lbs a couple of months down the program, she realized that the feeling of being a fat girl still lingered inside her head.
She admitted that even though Dr Nowzaradan had helped her with her weight, he had not helped her change the thoughts she had in her mind about her body and food craving. Dr Nowzaradan then suggested Pauline go and meet a therapist to make sure her mental health could also be improved.
While Pauline was losing a lot of weight, she also got a chance to appear on 'Dr Phil'. Dr Phil was excited to know about the weight loss journey that Pauline was on and she made the shocking claim that she had lost a lot of weight as she used to have sex seven times a day with her husband.
That statement instantly made her an internet sensation but it did not help her bring the numbers on the scale down. In the latest episode (April 29) of 'My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?', the show visited Pauline again.
Pauline revealed that she had opted out of Dr Nowzaradan's program because she did not feel that she was succeeding. However, she soon realized that if she wanted to remove the extra skin from her body, she needed Dr Nowzaradan by her side.
She decided to go and meet him again with the hope that he would be ready to give her a second chance. Luckily, Dr Nowzaradan welcomed her with open arms and she joined the program once again.
She said that one of her main struggles was the lymphedema on her leg. Ever since Pauline lost a lot of weight, the lymphedema had been causing her problems as it would be heavy and make it hard for her to walk. When she met Dr Nowzaradan, she was quick to state that she wanted to get rid of it as it was creating problems for her.
Dr Nowzaradan agreed to do the surgery on a condition that she came back losing more weight on her next visit. Pauline took this up as a challenge as she desperately wanted to say goodbye to the lymphedema. Luckily, her wish was granted when she made it to the next visit.
Dr Nowzaradan noticed that she had lost an incredible amount of weight and was back on the right path. He decided to go ahead with the surgery. As the surgery went successfully, Dr Nowzaradan removed her lymphedema that weighed 13lbs. Pauline was finally happy to say goodbye to her 13lbs of problem.
Later in the episode, Pauline also got approved for extra skin removal surgery and she was pleased to find out that she can finally look the way she felt. Dr Nowzaradan was happy to help her out while Pauline promised to work on losing more weight.
