'My 600-lb Life': Meghan's mother says she buys food to make her happy, fans remind her she's the enabler
Megan Davis and her mother Donna Davis never had a good relationship. While growing up, Donna was never in the picture because she would spend most of her time at work. This led to Megan spending more time with her father, who would often allow her to eat anything she wanted. Meanwhile, the sour relationship with her stepsisters made it hard for her to feel good about herself.
This ultimately led to Megan turning towards food to feel happy. As time passed by, Megan and her mother's relationship started deteriorating. When her parents got a divorce, she decided to move in with her dad after spending some years with her mother. However, her eating habits became worse as she did not have any restrictions.
She even found herself getting involved in bad company, which ultimately made her take the decision of moving in with her mother. While the two had a tough relationship, spending time together made things a little better. Though the two still have moments of awkwardness, their relationship is slowly getting better.
While one would think that after moving in with her mother Megan's diet would improve, what happened was completely opposite. Megan's mother agreed that all she did was eat and sleep. However, she added that she starts making breakfast for her before she wakes up because she is aware that she might be hungry.
After eating, sometimes, Megan and her mother go out shopping and it showed the real image of how Megan's health has been spiraling down. Donna confessed that she would let Megan have everything she wants. This includes chocolates, cakes, cookies and sodas among other things. She revealed that she wanted her daughter to be happy and due to this, she did not stop or question her.
Donna also expressed her worry about the thought of losing Megan forever. She said she won't be able to take the pain if something happened to her. While Donna seemed concerned about Megan, fans thought that she wasn't aware that she was being an enabler for her daughter.
"The mom enables Megan. Buying all the wrong foods, are only going to help her to keep gaining weight. Megan also takes advantage of her mother. She doesn’t change, so nothing changes," read one comment. "The mother puts a capital E in enabler!" another added.
Another echoed similar thoughts and wrote, "This is her mother's fault." While the viewers have seem to understand what might be enabling Megan, we wonder if Donna feels the same.
