'My 600-lb Life': Lindsey admits her relationship with Paul has survived because of their respective addictions
Lindsey has had problems with her weight from a young age as she was put in situations where she was forced to turn to food, but one of the reasons that she continues to eat a lot is Paul's addiction to alcohol. Paul and Lindsey met on a dating site when she thought she had gained her confidence back after shedding some weight from gastric bypass surgery.
Paul also felt attracted to Lindsey and the two soon exchanged numbers and started talking. After a while, the pair decided to meet and when Paul first laid his eyes on Lindsey he stated that he knew she was the one. The two later decided to get married and it was after this that Lindsey found out that Paul had an alcohol addiction.
She revealed that with Paul's constant need to drink and her need to constantly eat is what kept making things worse for her. "I think that's why we get each other and have a good relationship," she said. She further revealed that in the eight years that they have been together she has gained nearly 300lbs.
Even though it frustrates Lindsey to know the amount of food she eats she knows that nothing can help because she cannot stop herself from eating. To make matters worse, Paul does not stop her from eating because he knows no matter what he says or does it won't make a difference.
Lindsey wants to seek help while making sure that Paul seeks help too. Meanwhile, Paul reveals that when they first met Lindsey was excited about life but now her life is all about sleeping and eating. The two know that they have to fight their addiction to make their marriage work and turn towards healthy living and things are looking up as now the pair is planning to change their life around.
'My 600-lb Life' airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm on TLC.
