MuteMe fails to get a deal as 'Shark Tank' fans wonder if device is really useful
Sometimes it's the simplest and the most obvious ideas that make for the best inventions. With remote-working and remote-learning becoming the norm thanks to the pandemic, video calls have become a part of our day-to-day life. Video calls can be a double-edged sword, while it provides us the convenience and comfort, it also could put us in embarrassing situations if we fail to mute or unmute the call at the right time.
So, Parm Dhoot and Tye Davis teamed up to create and launch a pretty device called MuteMe. This illuminating mute button ensures that you never forget to mute or unmute your microphone during the calls cue to its changing colors. MuteMe indicates instantaneously whether you’re on mute with red and green visual toggles and takes away the stress that often comes with virtual meetings. Although the MuteMe button idea seems pretty interesting and extremely useful during the pandemic times, the Sharks- Mark Cuban, Kevin O'Leary, Lori Greiner, Daymond John, and guest Shark Peter Jones, failed to get the appeal of it and sat out of making a deal.

Concerns ranging from low sales numbers to the very need for a button that simply changes colors were thrown in by the Sharks justifying their decision to sit out of making the $200,000 deal the MuteMe founders wanted. After watching the entire MuteMe pitch and hearing out the Sharks' concerns, fans too were left divided about the necessity for the mute button in the market. While some pointed out that the button was a great idea and extremely useful invention, others saw no use for it.
A fan who is opposed to the idea of MuteMe button tweeted, "If you are too stupid to click mute on your screen, how you gonna remember to click a mute button #SharkTank." Another fan added, "When the British guy said "I'd be investing in a button that turns green and red". Every one else was out then. #SharkTank."

Some other fans praised the founders for their creative invention. A fan wrote, "I don't think there's anyone looking at MuteMe who hasn't wished they'd had it at least once in the past year. #sharktank." "#MuteMe is the kind of idea that leaves me speechless. Why didn’t I think of that? #SharkTank," expressed another fan. "#MuteMe would be great for those who are visually impaired and seniors. There are many sectors who can benefit from the item. #SharkTank #entrepreneurs #inventors #startup #SmallBusiness #success #Zoom #conferencecall," pointed out a fan. "Hmmm.... #MuteMe is a nice-to-have. #SharkTank," commented a fan.
