In a shocking incident in Colorado, a dad reportedly approved of his son shooting a mom-of-four calling it a rite of passage. Heith Gleason, a 35-year-old resident of Huerfano County and his 12-year-old son Gage allegedly killed 41-year-old Amy Garcia after Heith got in an argument with the deceased woman.

Local TV station KOAA reported that Amy Garcia's body was found on December 20 in her car that had been burned off of Silver Mountain Road near County Road 530 at around 1:30 am.

When the police arrived at the scene, the fire had reportedly gone out and they spotted Amy's body on the front seat. The car door on the driver's side had bullet holes and the police found shell casings strewn nearby.

The car was parked near a house that turned out to be Heith's upon further investigation and law enforcement officials reportedly approached the residence just to make sure that no one was hurt. The back entrance to the house had been open but both of them were unharmed, the report said.

According to a police affidavit, a witness told the police that Amy and Heith Gleason were involved in a heated argument over alcohol. The two had gone to fetch alcohol from Amy's home, the witness claimed. After their disagreement, the father picked up his gun claiming he would "kill her" and went outside after which a gunshot was reportedly heard, after which Heith Gleason came back inside alleging that he didn't kill her.

Soon after, Gage went outside with a .22 caliber weapon and a few shots of gunfire were heard. The arrest affidavit reportedly stated that the father had told his minor son that he had "just earned his man card”, the report said.

The witness also reportedly said that it was Gage who shot her while she was trying to escape in her car. Then his father shot her twice with his own gun, after which the car was set on fire. The witness did not specify which one of the two did the deed but said that they threw in their clothes and guns into the car with the dead body to destroy any evidence.

Captain Corey Daniels with the Huerfano County Sheriff's Office revealed to Fox 21 News that Amy was Heith's new girlfriend and that the duo had murdered her in front of their house and thought they would escape any consequences. In fact, he had been so sure that he even reportedly called the police after the two fled the state and informed them of their whereabouts as they were sure that they had an air-tight alibi.

Both the father and the son have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Heith was booked into Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center and Gage is being held at Santa Fe Youth Development Program. According to the news outlet, Heith had been arrested last year for harassment and child abuse.
