The Office for National Statistics, which began recording baby names in 1904, has revealed some interesting data about baby names in the United Kingdom
PUBLISHED SEP 21, 2018

According to the Office for National Statistics, the most popular baby names in England were Oliver and Olivia for the second year in a row. In the year 2017, the top five names for girls were Olivia, Amelia, Isla, Ava, and Emily. The name Sarah has fallen off the list of top 100 since the records began in the year 1904.

The most popular names for boys were Oliver, Harry, George, Noah, and Jack while, in the capital, the name Muhammad seemed to be amongst the most popular. The name Muhammad also ranked amongst the top names in Yorkshire, the West Midlands, and the Humber. In the top 100, there were three different variations of the name 'Muhammad' and, if the three versions were combined, it would overall be the most popular boy's name.
