MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' trolled as host Joe Scarborough calls out 'fascism' following article on Donald Trump's 'vicious attacks'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Tuesday morning, hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were joined by a panel on ‘Morning Joe’ where The New York Times’ latest article on former President Donald Trump was discussed.
The article titled “Trump’s Dire Words Raise New Fears About His Authoritarian Bent” talked about Trump’s “most vicious attacks” on political opponents, which has set off fresh worries among autocracy experts.
Scarborough shared his take on this article after he labeled Trump a “fascist” and then faced severe backlash on social media for the same.
Joe Scarborough slams Donald Trump on ‘Morning Joe’
On ‘Morning Joe,’ the segment on Donald Trump was centered around the article published by The New York Times, and part of it was also shared on the channel’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
In this, Scarborough talked about the article, “I just want to go through, again, this New York Times article. Let's just go through them. It's time that fascism is called fascism and Americans know exactly what they're voting for.”

“You know, I've heard people poo-poo this and go, 'Oh, people on the far left,' no. I'm a conservative. I'm on the right. There's a difference between conservatism, radicalism, and fascism. This is fascism,” Said Scarborough.
The ‘Morning Joe’ host then read quotes from the article, by an expert, and added it was all “boilerplate stuff.”
He stated, "Fascism is generally understood as an authoritarian far-right system of government in which hyper-nationalism is a central component."
"It also features a cult of personality around a strongman leader, The justification of violence or retribution against opponents, and the repeated denigration of the rule of law,” expressed Scarborough as he dug deep into the meaning of fascism in an article about Donald Trump.
Scarborough continued, “Past fascist leaders appeal to a sense of victimhood to justify their actions. We're entitled because we've been robbed. We've been victimized. We've been cheated and robbed."
"The whining, the snowflakes coming from the Trump people. I mean, a snowflake falls on their shoulders, and they're victimized.”
“They're victimized by history books on Hank Aaron. They're victimized by kids' books on Roberto Clemente. They're victimized by tweets. You name it, they are victimized by everything."
They are such weak snowflakes, and they're using that victimization to justify violence against their opponents,” said Scarborough as he expressed his views on “Trump people.”
‘Morning Joe’ faces backlash on X
After Joe Scarborough broke down parts of The New York Times’ article on ‘Morning Joe’ with a deep dive into fascism, the network, hosts, and show faced a lot of backlash on social media.
One person wrote, “Primary reason that your ratings are so low, is that what you preach are lies and propaganda rhetoric,” and another said, “Two of the biggest grifters in the media. How do you still have an audience?😂😂”
