'Ms. Marvel' Episode 1 Fan Review: 'Strongest starting episode out of any MCU Disney+ show'

Twitter users have given a thumbs up for the premiere episode of 'Ms. Marvel'. The Iman Vellani-starrer premiered on Disney+ and the first episode opened to excellent reviews. The coming-of-age drama, follows Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani-American high school student from Jersey City who is an aspiring artist and avid gamer and writes superhero fan fiction with a special affinity toward Captain Marvel. In the inaugural episode, Kamala discovers a mysterious bangle that was her grandmother’s belonging, which gives her cosmic powers.

Kamala Khan is Marvel's first Muslim character to headline her own comic book. She first appeared in Captain Marvel #14 (August 2013) before going on to star in the solo series Ms. Marvel, which debuted in February 2014. Kamala discovers that she is a shapeshifter due to her Inhuman genes in the aftermath of the "Inhumanity" storyline and assumes the mantle of Ms. Marvel from her idol Carol Danvers after Danvers becomes Captain Marvel. In contrast to the comics, Kamala in the Disney+ show has ability to resonate cosmic powers from a mysterious bangle.
