MCU Phase 4: 'Ms. Marvel' may see Brie Larson's Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel make a brief appearance

Carol and Kamala have crossed paths and the former has also been sort of a mentor figure in the comics

Marvel fans had reasons to rejoice during the D23 Expo 2019. Marvel Studios dropped details about a few new shows and movies that they'll be dishing out in the next couple of years. Among these announcements was a series focusing on Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. The series is still in development, but fans have already begun speculating if the show may involve Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) coming in at some stage. 

In the comics, Kamala is a Muslim teenager from New Jersey and is a comic book geek. After discovering she has shape-shifting abilities due to an inhuman terrigen mist, she transforms into a superhero and uses her powers to save the city from threats. In later versions of the comics, Carol and Kamala have crossed paths and the former has also been sort of a mentor figure. This is another example of Marvel bringing in the theme of legacy in its upcoming phases. 

Talking about 'Ms. Marvel', Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios Prez, had earlier said the idea was to get 'Captain Marvel' out first. "So that there is something for a young Muslim girl to get inspired by,” he added. 

"I mean my dream would be that Ms. Marvel gets to come into play in the [Captain Marvel] sequel," Larson said back in February. "That's the goal."

Kamala's uniform already has its design elements borrowed from Carol's suit. The Hala star, the lines and the color schematics. This would mean she would have seen the superhero up close and use the comics as a guide. In addition, Feige also added that Kamala will appear in future MCU movies. This could also mean an appearance in the 'Captain Marvel' sequel at some stage. At the moment, there are various ways how Carol could factor into the story.

One of it could be a fun standoff with the young hero, or maybe take a leaf from 'Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse' where a Peter Parker from a different earth teaches Miles Morales to use his spidey powers.
