A mourner from Robert Trump's funeral reportedly punched a restaurant worker in the face telling them “You don't know how to speak to people” after the server allegedly told them they couldn't fit their large party in the restaurant due to COVID-19 rules.

President Donald Trump on Friday, August 21, held a funeral service for his late brother in the East Room of the White House. Trump delivered a eulogy to approximately 150 guests, including the president's children and close associates. Guests included Peter King, Vice President Mike Pence, and Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York who has served as the president's personal lawyer.

According to the Daily Mail, the unidentified attacker assaulted a server at Fig & Olive restaurant in Washington D.C. on Friday night, August 21, allegedly eaving him with a broken nose. A restaurant worker told the outlet the mourner “clocked [the server] right in the nose” after he told the supposedly “unruly party” there was no space for the group to dine. Some of the people in the group were reportedly still carrying funeral programs from the White House service, the sources said.

NBC News White House Correspondent Geoff Bennett tweeted late Friday night about the incident. He wrote, “I got a tip that someone in town for Robert Trump's White House funeral punched a server tonight at D.C.'s Fig & Olive restaurant. I called and an employee there confirmed it: ‘Somebody blindsided one of my servers. Clocked him right in the nose.’” he added, “I'm told some in the group were still carrying funeral programs. The "unruly" group lashed out when the restaurant couldn't accommodate their large party. Employee: ‘It’s a pandemic, doing the best we can. Totally uncalled for.’ Employee says no ‘high-profile’ Trump was involved.”

He also wrote, “The employee says he believes the server's nose is broken.  I asked if police were involved. Employee says they have security at City Center and he thought they were handling it with DC police. But neither security nor police did anything,” adding, “Employee: ‘My server’s nose is crooked. Pretty sure the guy broke it. They didn’t apologize. Just said, 'You don’t know how to speak to people.'’”

It is unclear who the attacker is. Neither Fig & Olive or the Metropolitan Police Department have commented on the issue.

This is the first time a deceased person was held at the White House since President John F. Kennedy's lay in state and his funeral procession started from there following his assassination back in 1963. The room is where the body of President Abraham Lincoln was laid in state in 1865 and where Lincoln’s 11-year-old son Willie’s funeral was held three years prior. On Friday afternoon, the President and first lady accompanied the casket as it made its way down the front steps of the North Portico and was loaded into a hearse. Robert Trump died at the age of 71 after “suffering brain bleeds from a recent fall”. He was one of four siblings to the president, including the late Fred Trump, Jr. He had served as an executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
