Jake Herak is always on a hunt for mountain lions to make sure they are not a threat to the people who have built their lives around the mountains. However, one thing that he strictly follows is the no shooting policy. Jake does not think it would be right to kill an animal and instead believes it would be best to send them away.

While some might support his decision, others think it may not be the best idea because not shooting the lion would often mean that they would come back to the same location. Luckily for Jake, he has his pack of dogs who are trained to spot a mountain lion and help take them out. However, in the latest episode (July 23), things changed a bit for Jake when he found out that the dogs were chasing a wild bear. Unlike the mountain lion, wild bears were more aggressive and were in a position to hurt the dogs. Jason feared that the wild bear would shred the dogs into pieces if they continued to chase him.

While Jake wanted to make sure he can save his dogs, one problem that he faced was that the dogs were faster than him. Trying to make his way through heavy snow, Jake was having trouble catching up with them. Meanwhile, the wild bear was getting more aggressive as the dogs continued to chase it.

He finally managed to catch up to them but was shocked to find out that the dogs were trying to enter the wild bear's den. Jake knew that if any of his dogs went inside, they would not be coming back. He tried to rush everyone out and take them to a safe place. Once he managed to pull them out, Jake decided to fire some shots with the hope that the bear will not follow them.

Jake knew that he would have to look into the matter in the future to make sure the wild bear does not cause any trouble. He revealed that the focus was on mountain lion and with their season soon approaching, it was important to keep the dogs safe and in a position to be ready for another hunt.

'Mountain Men' airs on Thursdays at 9 pm ET on History.
