28-year-old mother kills newborn girl by stabbing her 15 times with pair of scissors before hiding body in kitchen bin
Rachel Tunstill, 28, told doctors she suffered a miscarriage when she had, in fact, stabbed her newborn baby to death using a pair of scissors moments after birth
A mother whose original conviction for murdering her newborn baby with scissors was quashed by the Court of Appeal has now been found guilty of the crime. Following a retrial at Liverpool Crown Court which lasted seven weeks, 28-year-old Rachel Tunstill, of HMP Styal, was found guilty of killing her own baby
According to Mirror, while Tunstill was originally convicted in June 2017, Lord Justice Treacy, who presided over the case, ruled at the time that the jury should have been offered a verdict of infanticide to consider in their discussions.
