Mother-of-three mauled to death by her two pet dogs in front of daughter during alleged argument
A mother-of-three has succumbed to severe injuries she suffered after she was attacked and mauled by two dogs at her home in Cheshire.
The North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Police responded to the home of 43-year-old Elayne Stanley on Graham Road, Widnes, at around 5.15 pm on Tuesday, September 24, after receiving reports that she had been attacked by two dogs.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Stanley in a serious condition, and despite their best efforts, could not save her.
"She was treated at the scene by paramedics. However, she sadly passed away. Her next of kin have been informed and inquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances," a statement from the Cheshire Police read.
Speaking about the horrific incident, neighbors said that the 43-year-old had been attacked by her own dogs, Billy and DJ, pictures of whom are plastered all over her Facebook page.
Her neighbor, 39-year-old Bev Hall, who lives in the opposite house and had been friends with Stanley for 22 years, said she had heard her arguing with her daughter when suddenly, the girl came in screaming for help and said the dogs were attacking her mom.
She said she and the girl ran back over to help, but couldn't get in as the living room door was closed and Stanley's body was behind it. "I could hear a dog growling and scratching, we threw all sorts of things and banged on the windows to try and distract the dogs," she said.
Hall said they called the police, and as they were waiting, were throwing bricks at the dogs from the side door to scare them away. "Once the dogs were in the back garden my partner locked them out... By the time the paramedics came there was nothing they could do," she said.
"The police tried to tranquilize DJ three or four times but he wouldn't calm down, he had the taste of blood so he went for the police officers and they had to put him down," she continued. "He was shot twice but Billy the girl dog was tranquilized and taken away."
She said it was very uncharacteristic of them as she "never known for those dogs to be violent" and revealed her kids "have slept on those dogs and used them as pillows."
"They always seemed like they were nice enough dogs, they were never out of control," said another neighbor, who did not wish to be named. "You don't know what's provoked it. I've heard people saying there was an argument but you just don’t know."
