1-year-old miraculously survives after mother suffers fatal fall on subway stairs while holding her
A young mother who was carrying her young child tragically died after falling down a flight of stairs at a Manhattan subway station on the night of Monday, January 28. 22-year-old Malaysia Goodson was later identified as the victim in the accident, with her one-year-old daughter Rhylee surviving the fall.
According to the New York Post, Goodson, who lived in Stamford, Connecticut, was in New York City to visit her cousins and was out shopping the day of the fall. She was said to have been carrying Rhylee at the 7th Avenue/53rd Street station in Midtown at around 8 pm when she fell down the stairs.
Officers quickly responded to the scene and found the 22-year-old "unconscious and unresponsive." She was subsequently rushed to the Mount Sinai Hospital and, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Rhylee was unhurt in the incident.
