Mother arrested for 'pimping out' mentally disabled daughter, 19, on dating site and extorting customers
A 39-year-old mother and her female accomplice were arrested for allegedly pimping out the former's mentally disabled daughter to seven men before blackmailing them to pay her money.
The woman, Ms. Kannanat, was arrested while she was in her apartment in Bangkok on Christmas Day after an arrest warrant was issued by the Udon Thani court in November. The arrest warrant was issued for extorting money and wearing a government uniform. Many men had reported the woman to the authorities after she tried to extort them by accusing them of trying to sleep with her 19-year-old daughter.
As reported by the Bangkok Post, the woman had blackmailed the men into paying as much as 250,000 baht ($8,300). The matter came to light when a salesman, 24, at a department store in Nong Han filed a complaint with the cops on July 18 stating that Ms. Kannanat and Yingluck Yoo-in had attempted to extort money from him.
He also accused the women of allegedly taking the 19-year-old to sleep with him. He met the teenager via the app 'Badoo' and arranged to meet her at Hong Han Hospital. When he met her, he found that she was attractive but did not speak at all. He then took her to a resort in the district and the next day took her to a terminal to board a bus to her house.
A little while later, he received a call from his father saying that two women sporting government uniforms had come to their house. One of them had complained that he had lured her daughter to have sex and threatened to arrest him. He paid around 50,000 baht up front and was asked to pay the remaining money a week later.
He then finally found out that the girl was mentally disabled and was being used by her mother to extort money from men. The authorities called Yingluck for questioning and she revealed that the woman's daughter was on the dating app despite the fact that the girl could not read or write.
The mother had taken her daughter to extort six other men in Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Sakon Nakhon, and Nong Bua Lamphu. The woman denied the extortion charges but did admit to wearing government uniforms.
