OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA: A mom has impressed the internet by giving her bathroom sink a clever makeover using only epoxy resin and edible glitter. Lauren, 34, transformed a once dull bathroom sink into an attractive marble piece with items that were already available at home. She summed up her hours of work in a short TikTok video with over 1.7 million views and the comments section filled with netizens praising her creation.

"The Amazon marble kit inspired me," Lauren told Newsweek. DIY creations have become an online trend in recent years with many users showcasing the use of an at-home epoxy kit that creates a beautiful marble finish for around $200. However, Lauren did not simply opt for the kit and instead used materials she already had around the house. "I didn't use the kit," she said. "I had paint at home and Walmart had the epoxy for around $40 so I thought I'd just use what I had."

'It was totally spur of the moment'

A lot of effort was put in before Lauren received the final result that she was pleased with. Moreover, for the final touch, she used epoxy and some edible gold glitter. Lauren reportedly made a mixture of gold and white epoxy and poured it onto the countertop before operating a heat gun to mix it around. "It was totally spur of the moment," she said, recounting the process. "I had the black and white paint already and I mixed that together so I didn't have to spend any money on it." Lauren also added some leftover edible glitter that was already available at home as she recently made cupcakes. "I thought I'd see how it looked and in my opinion, it turned out really pretty," she said.

'Trust the process'

Other TikTok users are singing words of praise for the DIY artist. "I'm actually really impressed that you kept going and ended up with something awesome," one commenter said, while another wrote: "I trusted the process and I'm glad I did. The final one is GORGEOUS." A third comment read: "Pheww this was a trust the process. It looks great."

Lauren hopes her DIY creation inspires others

Lauren reportedly spent only $50 to get the stunning result.  "I still love the result and so far it's lasted really well—so much so that I've thought about doing my kids' bathroom counters," she said. She added that she hopes her DIY efforts push other people to have a go at their own DIY projects. "I recommend everyone to try DIY anything. It's fun to use your imagination and therapeutic, at least for me—I've been doing other epoxy projects since then and it's become a new hobby," she said.
