'Modern Family' Season 11: Phil plans an elaborate prank for a year to scare Claire on Halloween and fans are impressed

Claire drags him to the neighbor's house to put his fears to an end but ends up getting scared instead, when Phil goes all "Psycho" on her

Every year, we see Phil Dunphy trying to scare his wife Claire, and failing miserably at it. We couldn't wait to see what the writers had in mind for the final Halloween episode of this popular sitcom.

The initial few tricks that Phil played to scare Claire left us unimpressed, and of course, Claire didn't flinch even a bit.B ut this is the year of Phil, so we waited patiently to see the Dunphy patriarch go out and scare the living daylights out of his wife.

His meticulous planning and attention to detail finally paid off when, in the end, he manages to give a good scare to Claire.

It all began with him pretending to be stabbed, but Claire didn't buy it. To throw Claire off the trail, the whole day he kept goofing up all his tricks, finally in the evening they go for a horror movie. There too he keeps getting scared and shouting throughout the movie while Claire watches without flinching.

On their way back from the movie, he tries persuading Claire to take a longer route to their house so that they wouldn’t have to pass a neighbor's house, who he is very scared of.

Claire drags him to the neighbor's house to put his fears to an end but ends up getting scared instead, when Phil goes all "Psycho" on her. For one whole year, Phil convinced Claire that an old woman lived in that house, who he was afraid of because she sat by the window all day.

He turned out to be the old woman. When Claire was passing by the house, he would be friendly to Claire so Claire isn't afraid of the neighbor.

He planned the prank for a whole year and finally, on Halloween day, knits a lookalike doll and places it on the chair near the window, and when Claire sees that she begins screaming just as Phil comes behind her in his neighbor's attire.

Fans absolutely loved Phil's elaborate prank and couldn't stop raving about it. A fan wrote, "I love how Phil and Claire try to scare the crap out of each other every Halloween. That's what marriage is all about. #ModernFamily."

One fan pointed out, "Phil has been planning this for an entire year. He even looks like Agnes from Black Christmas #ModernFamily" while another added, "Holy shit, Phil has been planning this scare for a fk**ing yr! LOL #ModernFamily", expressed a fan.
