Twins who escaped civil war in Eritrea and suddenly became deaf at age 7 are now starring in a fashion campaign

Model twins Hermon and Heroda got candid about their disability and how they have grown to embrace and accept it.
UPDATED MAR 1, 2019

Model twins Hermon and Heroda Berhane have been breaking barriers in the fashion industry. The pair went deaf at the young age of seven but instead of viewing it as a problem, they have used it to their advantage. The stylish sisters recently modeled for a new fashion campaign by River Island titled #LoveFromMe project and were more than ready to share about the project as well as let people in on their secret to happiness.

The project aims to highlight and encourage the importance of self-love and acceptance. It is also close to home for Hermon and Heroda who had fled from the civil war in Eritrea during the 1980s. In this campaign, the sisters will be seen alongside people who've struggled with rejection due to disabilities, bullying, and even a cancer survivor.
