MLB 2020: Mike Trout's historic fifth birthday home run shows why he's on his way to becoming one of the GOATs
Eight-time MLB All-star, three-time American League MVP, and seven-time recipient of the Silver Slugger Award. Now that's a distinguished list to have, and for the birthday boy and newly-minted father Mike Trout, these are defining points as he's currently being discussed as a man well on his way to becoming one of the GOATs of the game. The man celebrated his birthday on Friday, August 7, in style as he hammered a homer on his birthday for the fifth time in his career.
The Los Angeles Angels are currently playing the Texas Rangers with the former on a 2-1 lead and for that, they have Trout to thank for. There's a very interesting stat ESPN tweeted soon after the homerun. "He is one of seven players in MLB history with five or more HR on their birthday." For those who have followed the 29-year-old's journey in the sport, this doesn't come as a surprise. Nicknamed "the Millville Meteor", Trout was always touted as a big-game winner and he has done exactly that this season.
Trout has now homered on his 21st, 22nd, 24th, 26th, and 29th birthdays and for the Angels that's just good news.
Here's a very interesting stat that popped up on Twitter earlier.

Happy Birthday Mike! 💯 pic.twitter.com/ywAzDECjhy
These are staggering numbers. And for Trout personally, it has been a good week after he nailed an epic performance on Tuesday when the Angels played the Seattle Mariners as he walloped his signature HR. Call it his way of celebrating after he and his wife, Jessica, welcomed their child, Beckham Aaron Trout. And since then, Troit has homered four times in four games. And all this when they thought he wouldn't be much of a show this season thanks to the pandemic

These stats, not including the birthday ones, are an indication of how good a player Trout is. It is safe to say he still has some mileage left and considering the way he's knocking it out of the park, it's only a matter of time before the GOAT title comes attached to Trout.
