Mitch McConnell slammed for laughing over Covid-19 deaths as McGrath grilled him: ‘Congrats you f**king monster’

Voting is all set to begin in Kentucky and Amy McGrath — a Marine veteran combat pilot and the Democrat candidate, squared-off against Republican Mitch McConnell on Monday, October 12, 2020, night in the first and only debate for failing to pass a new coronavirus relief package as several benefits of the $2.2 trillion CARES Act passed in March expire.

Calling attention to the fact that the House passed the $3.4 trillion HEROES Act in May, she said, “Sen. McConnell built a Senate that is so dysfunctional and so partisan that even in the middle of a national crisis he can’t get it done,” adding, “For that reason alone he should be voted out of office.” The 45-year-old then accused her opponent of a “dereliction of duty to not be negotiating and working on this.”

“All summer long he took a vacation, didn’t see the urgency to do anything. Meanwhile, here in Kentucky, we have a million Kentuckians that have filed for unemployment sometime in the last six months. We have 300,000 Kentuckians that still don’t have health care in the middle of a coronavirus and he’s walking away from negotiations,” McGrath said.

As per The Hill, McGrath gave the White House and Congress “an F” for their handling of the pandemic and pointed out how more than 200,000 Americans have died from the disease.

“Two trillion dollars for corporations, no problem. Two trillion dollars for Kentucky in the middle of a pandemic, in the middle of a national crisis that we haven’t seen in 100 years, nah, that’s too hard,” she then said to which McConnell responded: “My opponent is entitled to her opinion but not to her own set of facts.” All the while when McGrath unloaded her wrath on McConnell, he could be seen laughing. 

A 33-second clip was posted on Twitter with the caption, "Mitch McConnell LAUGHS when called out for his lack of action on COVID. #KYSen 'If you want to call yourself a leader you got to get things done,'" where the 78-year-old can be seen grinning like a Cheshire cat. It didn't take much time for the Internet to spot it and they soon dubbed him an "evil monster" for doing so.

"FIVE times, @senatemajldr LAUGHED OFF questions regarding COVID during tonight's #KYSen Debate. It's obvious that Mitch McConnell isn't taking this election, COVID, or KY voters seriously," one said and another posted, "#MoscowMitch goes full supervillain here. @senatemajldr you will forever be remembered for this jowly chortle at the suffering of millions. They will play it as part or every obit reel on you. My great-grandkids will watch it in school. Congrats you f**king monster." A third chimed in, "COVID is no laughing matter #MoscowMitch #KYSen."

Not just that, he disrespected her by saying: “I think her entire campaign is “She’s a marine. She’s a mom. And I’ve been there too long.” Quoting his words, one Twitter user posted, "Being a mom is the most difficult job there is. And a marine? Forget about it. I have 3 daughters. I’ve never respected @senatemajldr less than I do tonight..." Another wrote, "#MoscowMitch Just said exactly why Amy should win... Thanks for that @senatemajldr."

With the hashtag #MoscowMitch, many Twitter users urged others to vote for McGrath. "Kentucky do yourself a favor, it is time to retire Mitch McConnell. You deserve someone better. A better person. A better leader who has a better vision and will work for Kentucky. #VoteAmyMcGrathKY," one wrote. Another said, "#MoscowMitch McConnell thinks it's funny people are suffering and dying as a result of Trump and the republicans incompetent response to the #RepublicansVirus. Kentucky, are you okay with that? If not, send your republican senator, McConnell packing."
