FLORIDA: A family member of a missing Florida teenager told the police that she had received a video showing the teenage girl in distress, sitting on a chair with a rope around her neck.

Destiny Rose, 16, who hails from Broward County was last seen on August 20 around 15 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale at the Alpha Group Home. According to detectives, they were recently reached out to by Rose's aunt.

She had been sent a video call request on Instagram from Rose's account and when she picked up, an unidentified man showed Rose crying. She was tied to a chair and had a rope around her neck. Before the call ended, the man told her aunt, "If you actually cared about her, you would be here to get her." The Miami Herald identified Rose's aunt as Shanna Champion.

Unfortunately, the video call was saved as a recording on the phone. The suspect is believed to be Hispanic and was described as being in his late 20s to early 30s. He had a short crew haircut and a small patch of facial hair on his chin, WSVN reported. Rose has been listed as a runaway on the Florida missing person list.

As per a missing poster, Rose has blonde hair and green eyes. She was last seen sporting a white shirt, black jacket, red pants, and a pink and black beanie. The investigation is currently ongoing.

"Do you recognize this girl? If anyone knows her whereabouts or has any information about her please call Davie Police at 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS," the Davie Police Department shared on social media.

The National Center for Missing or Exploited Children revealed that there were 424,066 entries made for missing children on the FBI's National Crime Information Center database in 2018.
