WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS: Seamus Gray, a missing US Navy sailor, was found dead more than a month after going missing in the north suburban area of Chicago. A thorough search was conducted to locate Gray, 21, who went missing on Saturday, March 18, and was last seen leaving a bar in Waukegan.

Waukegan police officers stopped a vehicle near the Waukegan Harbor on Wednesday, April 19, at approximately 7.08 pm after it was flagged down by ComEd workers, according to Fox32 Chicago. Police claimed that the utility workers reported seeing what they thought to be a body in the water while performing routine maintenance work close to the Harbor. A police officer escorted a lifeless body back to the land, and the body along with the clothing was found to fit Gray's description.

The body discovered in the water has been identified as Gray by the Lake County Coroner, who has taken custody of the corpse, according to Fox32 Chicago. Gray's family has been in touch with the coroner's office, and an autopsy is set for Thursday, April 20.

A surveillance video provided more information on Gray's whereabouts. He was seen dressed in red standing outside the Ibiza Bar on Genesee Street with friends after being asked to leave by staff as he appeared to be intoxicated. After being asked to leave, he was seen talking to a group of people while on his phone. Following what appeared to be an altercation, Gray was left on the ground.

Gray 'lived for the Navy'

Gray was last captured on camera alone as he walked toward the intersection of Sheridan Road and Washington Street at around 1.40 am, according to Fox32 Chicago. The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police conducted a thorough search of the area.

Deputy Chief Brian Mullen of the Waukegan Police Department previously said, "Overnight we received some more videos over here at the lakefront from some businesses at the marinas that were showing Seamus right on the water's edge," according to Fox32 Chicago. Gray's mother, who resides in Florida, had come to Waukegan to help in the search as she became desperate for information.

Kerry Gray earlier stated, "I would like everybody's help to find my son. I'm here, I'm going through dumpsters looking for my son," according to Fox32 Chicago. Friends and family members stated that Gray, who turned 21 in February, "lived for the Navy."
