Miss USA 2020: Who is Miss DC Cierra Jackson? 28-year old military child was White House intern for Barack Obama
The Miss USA 2020 contest has not announced the result yet, but it seems like some people have already chosen their favorite contestant and "winner". As the Internet is really rooting for, Miss District of Columbia USA 2020, Cierra Jackson, here's a look at who she is.
Born on May 18, 1992, in Bowling Green, KY, Jackson moved to DC, when she got selected to be a Running Start Walmart Star Fellow on Capitol Hill. Later, under Obama's Presidency, she was selected as the only White House intern to serve the Chief of Staff as their communications intern.
Apart from her very attractive looks, she is known for her instinctive communication and her deeply community-oriented attitude. As Miss District of Columbia in the Miss America Organization, Cierra dedicated over 600+ hours of community service to several NGOs and DC public education initiatives. With the help of Councilmember Robert White, she even created the 1st ever Miss District of Columbia’s Day at DC Council.
She attended Spelman College's class of 2014, where she did her graduated in Political Science and Yale University Women’s Campaign School, class of 2015.
Being from military family background, and personally witnessing the impacts of the war, she created the 'Day of the Military Child' in both the city of Columbus and the State of Georgia with dreams to expand it nationally.
Her story as a military kid has been published in renowned publications like Cosmopolitan, DCW50, Bustle, People.com and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Joining Forces campaign. As a military child, she grew up in Columbus, GA, South Korea & later Atlanta, GA before moving to Washington, D.C. At the age of 2, her mother was her first choir director in the church. Shortly after, Cierra began classical vocal training, piano & drums classes. Vocals are her most refined talent.
She has also authored a children's book titled, 'CC the Military kid', where she has written about the life of a military kid. Jackson is a speaker and vocalist by trade. She has hosted galas and even gave a stellar performance in the Obama White House. In her spare time, she enjoys performing jazz cafes, conferences, arenas and stadiums.
As soon as her name came into light for the Miss USA 2020 competition, people started talking about Miss DC, as one Internet user said, "Miss DC! That dress is gorgeous!
