Miss America 2020 winner: Miss Virginia Camille Schrier takes home the crown

Miss America 2020 has crowned its new winner as Camille Schrier takes home the crown.

Virginia's Camille Schrier is the newly crowned Miss America 2020. She beat Virginia Hill from Georgia for the win. The two contestants went head to head in the final round. The first question that they were asked to answer revolved around social media. Hill and Schrier had to answer if Miss America should pay attention to what she posts before and after the win. 

Schrier stated that it is important to pay attention to the role one has been given. Highlighting the importance of Miss America being a role model to others, Schrier added that it is important to keep in mind that what one posts on social media influences what others think about them. Schrier also took into consideration some of the rules that a pageant winner has to keep in mind. She revealed that if she wins the competition she would make sure that she would consult with the Miss America organization about what to post because it is a team effort and one needs to be careful about what they post.

The next question revolved around the controversial question about whether married or divorced women should be allowed to contest in the competition. Schrier stated that as she is teaching her students about defining the difference between Miss and Mrs. She stated that it is good to have unmarried women in the competition as there is a lot of responsibility that the role calls for and married women with a child may be unable to fulfill those.  

Meanwhile, she highlighted the importance of education when it comes to drug safety and the need for people to be told what is right and what is not. Hearing all the answers the judges were quick to cast all their votes in favor of Schrier and she took home the title for Miss America 2020.
