Ilhan Omar goes on secret dates, romantic holidays with boyfriend Tim Mynett and are even talking marriage, claims report
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is living a double life where she's hooked up with a married man, planning international vacations with him, and even making plans for a long-term future together, a report alleges.
Omar, 37, is said to be involved in a relationship with Tim Mynett, 38, who previously worked as national finance director for former Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison, whose seat the former took over when he ran for attorney general, claims the Daily Mail.
The website is reporting that Omar and Mynett are not only dating but also living together "on and off" at a secret Washington D.C. apartment and that they might be planning to tie the knot as soon as their divorces are finalized.
Omar, who earlier denied a rift with her husband Ahmed Hirsi, whom she wed in 2002, filed divorce papers in Minnesota earlier this month claiming that their marriage was irretrievably broken. She is asking a court to grant her joint legal and physical custody of their three children Isra, 16, Adnan, 14, and Ilwad, six.
Mynett's wife Beth, 55, similarly had filed for divorce in August, with sources claiming that the breakdown in their relationship was because of his fling with Omar.
She is seeking primary custody of their son, child support, and full ownership of their $900,000 three-bed family home in northern DC. She claimed Mynett put the boy in harm's way when he brought Omar back to their residence when she was out of town because of the media attention and death threats Omar was receiving at the time.
Mynett has denied those allegations, claiming in his filing that Beth wanted to "ruin his career" and that he was leaving because he was unhappy in their seven-year marriage. "Mr. Mynett denies that he told Ms. Mynett was leaving the marriage for Representative Ilhan Omar ('Rep. Omar') or that he was in love with her," it reads.
But those assertions were rubbished by one of Beth's friends, who referred to a video taken by the Daily Mail of Omar and Mynett together, and said it exposed his lies. The latter was captured going from her cozy basement apartment a few minutes from Capitol Hill with clothes, groceries, and six-packs of Stella Artois beer. He was also seen giving her a ride in his car multiple times, despite her public insistence on safety.
"Honestly, had that video not been taken of Tim and Omar together, I don't know if he would have ever told Beth what was going on. He probably would have just kept up the pretense that everything was okay while running around with Omar behind her back."
"Tim is still pretending there is nothing going on but neither of them are fooling anyone," another source said. "Omar is an elected representative, she is supposed to be transparent and truthful. She needs to be honest about why she's leaving her marriage and breaking up another one."
"Right now they are more or less living together whenever she is in DC. They say they travel as business associates when they are staying in the same hotel rooms. They are even planning a romantic vacation at Christmas," the source continued.
"The suspicion is that when their divorces are finalized they will quietly decide to make it official. Maybe then the lies, the hypocrisy, all the sneaking around will finally come to an end."
