Where did the authorities find Mindi's remains?

On December 2 last year, hunters discovered the Georgia woman's remains near a Riceboro, Georgia, hunting club. Her partial remains were found in the woods of Portal Hunting Club around November 27, 2022. "Her date of death is believed to be approximately one to two weeks before she was found," the GBI said in a previous release.

The GBI finally identified the remains on May 11, following months of interviews advanced testing in labs, and genealogy DNA analysis.

What did the GBI say?

"GBI agents assigned to this investigation sought the FBI’s assistance with genealogy DNA. The FBI used a lab specializing in this advanced testing and received results that furthered the investigation," the GBI explained in a press release, according to Fox News. "The GBI interviewed family members and obtained DNA swabs for comparison to the profile created through genealogy DNA," it added.

Where is Kassotis now?

Nicholas James Kassotis is being held at Lancaster County Prison in Pennsylvania and will be extradited to Georgia. The GBI expressed gratitude to several agencies for being involved in their investigation which includes the FBI, US Marshals Service, East Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, Lancaster Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

4-year-old girl's body found in pieces

In a similar case, MEAWW previously reported that the body of a little girl was found cut into small pieces and littered across a field after a man lured her away by offering her sweets. Bokgabo Poo, 4, vanished from her home in Ekurhuleni, South Africa, on October 10. The man, identified as Ntokozo Zikhali, 30, was seen offering the four-year-old sweets outside the property in Wattville Township shortly before she disappeared. The next day, Bokgabo's mutilated body was found chopped into pieces, spread across a nearby field.

A 63-year-old woman found the remains of the child after noticing human toes sticking out of the ground while cleaning the area. The woman then alerted the authorities who confirmed the body belonged to the four-year-old.
