Millie Bobby Brown defended Joe Goldberg from 'You' who becomes obsessed with a girl, stalks her, breaks into her house and even threatens her friends
English actress Millie Bobby Brown has defended the actions of Joe Goldberg, a fictional stalker played by Penn Badgley on Lifetime series 'You' which is streaming on Netflix.
In the now-deleted Instagram story, the 14-year-old star is seen supporting the controversial and creepy character Joe Goldberg. She believes that the character wasn't creepy at all and that he is in love.
The 'Stranger things' actor said: "So, I just started that new show 'You'. He’s not creepy, he’s in love with her, and it’s okay... So, I’m obsessed with it. I’m binge watching it. Absolute banger!"
Brown continued her explanation: "By the way, I know everybody is gonna say, 'He’s a stalker. Why would you support that? No. He’s in love with her. Just watch the show and don’t judge me on my opinion."

The video soon went viral as her fans started posting it on social media platforms like Twitters and Instagram. The actor has since decided to delete the video from her Instagram story.
However, Brown was not the only person to feel this way about the character. Penn Badgley, who plays the controversial bookstore manager, previously responded to fans who expressed their adoration for Joe on social media saying he should not be lusted after.
A fan wrote: "Said this already but @PennBadgley is breaking my heart once again as Joe. What is it about him?" To which Penn simply, and hilariously, replied: "A: He is a murderer."
He also re-tweeted another follower who revealed that she's scared about the number of fans who are romanticizing his stalker character. He jokingly replied to the thread saying "Ditto. It will be all the motivation I need for season 2."
Penn's character Joe is obsessed with a girl called Guinevere, nicknamed Beck, after meeting her at the bookstore he works in.
The bookseller goes on to stalk her and becomes obsessed with her to the extent that he breaks into her home and is ready to murder any rivals that get into the way of him being with her, including her best friend Peach Salinger.
'You' premiered on Lifetime on September 9, 2018 in the US and was adopted by Netflix internationally last month.
