Mike Tyson offered $20M for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship as boxing legend gets back in fighting shape
Mike Tyson's announced return to boxing has got a number of boxing organizations lined up. David Feldman, president of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), is reportedly offering Tyson a $20 million deal for the boxer's participation.
Tyson would not only receive the eight-figure sum, but would also be able to pick his opponent from the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship roster. Heavy.com reports that the 53-year-old boxer is up for a major payout if he agrees to this deal. According to the website, the $20 million deal isn't the only one that Feldman is putting on the table.
“While we did make a guaranteed offer of $20 million for Mike [Tyson] to fight for BKFC, we’re open to many different options as to how we can work together. Obviously, the excitement of seeing Mike’s video showing himself training and desire to participate in exhibitions inspired us to reach out and make the offer.” Feldman said.
Feldman isn't the only one hoping to make a deal with Tyson, though by all current reports he has provided the biggest offer so far. According to the Daily Mail, Melbourne boxing promoter Brian Amatruda reportedly offered Mike Tyson a million dollars to participate in a fight for charity. "The first thing I did was contact (celebrity agent) Max Markson and ask him to offer Tyson $1 million," he told the Daily Mail. "Max brought him to Australia in 2012. He gets on well with him and his wife but the main thing is that he got him a visa to get into the country back then and that's the key."
Earlier this month, Tyson had announced his return to boxing in an Instagram Live conversation with rapper TI, in which the boxing legend said he is working out to get back in fighting shape again. Tyson plans to participate in short, three to four round boxing competitions in the hopes of raising money for charity. He mentions that he is planning to focus his altruism towards those affected by drug abuse and homelessness. The returning boxer also spoke about his workout routine. "I do about two hours on cardio, I do the bike and I do the treadmill for an hour. Then I do some light weights - 300, 250 reps," Tyson said. "Then I start my day with the boxing thing. Then I go in there and hit the mitts for like 30 minutes, 25 minutes. Gotta get in better condition."
