'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/TMNT': Far too cool to be restricted to just the comics

We don't know yet how this story is going to end and we won't find out until the remaining issues hit the stands but one thing we do know for sure is that this is the coolest crossover we've seen in comics in years

The 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' are one of the most popular iterations of Power Rangers to ever appear as part of the franchise. And 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' is one of the few properties with a fan base rivaling the 'Power Rangers' franchise. So what do you get when you put them together? An absolutely kickass story, of course.

'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' five-part crossover limited series by IDW and BOOM! Studios is almost about to wrap up and so far, it has been one of the best new series we've seen in a long time. The crossover combines elements from both franchises and the result is just insanely cool and not ridiculous at all.

Okay, maybe it is a little ridiculous but 'TMNT' has been making ridiculousness work in their favor for literally decades so it really just adds to the series' appeal. This appeal is further heightened by all the insane combo possibilities this crossover opens up and the series' potential to be adapted into other media just adds the icing on the cake.

Sure, there are still two more issues to go before the series wraps up but whatever we've seen so far is just so cool, we'd be truly heartbroken if this story were to just end with this one series. A live-action movie or even an animated film based on the series would be a genuine treat, though what we would love more than anything else is if this story was adapted into a killer video game.

Character designs for the Ninja Rangers (Simone di Meo/BOOM! Studios/IDW). You can check out the rest of the designs here.

First, a little background. The Shredder, after stealing the Green Ranger's power coin, found a way to disrupt the Power Rangers' connection to their own Power Coins...but that doesn't mean they can't offer their coins to some other teens with attitude. Turtle teens, to be precise.

The first Ranger/Turtle combo we see in the series is when Shredder gets the powers of the Green Ranger but the mixing and matching doesn't stop there. In the series upcoming fourth issue, IDW will be introducing the Turtle Rangers (the Ninja Turtles and April O'Neil with Ranger powers) and the Ninja Rangers (Power Rangers with Ninja powers).

We don't know yet how this story is going to end and we won't find out until the remaining issues hit the stands but one thing we do know for sure is that this is the coolest crossover we've seen in comics in years and it would be a real waste if someone doesn't find a way to expand on the concept.

'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' #4, written by Ryan Parrott and illustrated by Simone di Meo with a cover by Dan Mora,  goes on sale March 18.
