32-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting 3-month-old baby pleads 'no contest'
A man in Michigan accused of raping a 3-month-old infant has now pleaded no contest to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Thirty two-year-old Matthew Toole entered the pleas at the Calhoun County Court on January 28 in order to avoid the prospect of going to trial after the prosecution filed a motion to add a witness in the case.
Toole is one of four people facing trial for their alleged involvement in a child pornography ring, and who according to authorities sexually assaulted their own children among others.
The Daily Mail reported that Toole will have nine counts dismissed, including ones for child abuse and production and possession of pornography, in exchange for pleading no contest to the first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges. When he is sentenced on March 11, he could face a minimum of 25 years and a maximum of life behind bars for each of the charges.
