Barack and Michelle Obama know how to turn even a mundane activity like kayaking into so much more. The former US President and the first lady were recently were seen enjoying a vacation in Hawaii on Tuesday, December 22. The duo were seen in the water at Kailua Bay, kayaking together in the ocean. Michelle was seen in a bright orange swimsuit which matched the kayak and looked stunning with her natural no make-up look. She had her hair tied back away from her face and seemed like she was putting in most of the work while kayaking as she held the tandem paddle. Barack, who was seen sporting a grin most of the time, was seen sitting behind her looking relaxed in a pair of dark swimming shorts, sunglasses and a baseball hat. He was seen shirtless and showed off his stunning physique. The two were accompanied by what appeared to be secret service agents on the water as well as some others who were out on small boats closeby.

The pair have a very busy year and have got several lucrative contracts. Michelle's 2018 book titled 'Becoming' went into a book/speaking tour besides turning into a Netflix documentary. The documentary had been produced by their company Higher Road.

She had also launched a podcast on Netflix and had interviewed her husband as one of her first guests amid the lockdown. The couple also endorsed President-elect Joe Biden and Michelle had given a pre-recorded video message for the virtual DNC in his favor.

As the year comes to an end, Michelle has reflected upon the year and said that the "passionate message" of Black Lives Matter protests has stayed with her the most. On December 23, she had taken to Instagram to share a long heartfelt post along with a video of Patrick Hutchinson who had carried an injured rightwing protester on his shoulder during the BLM protests. While sharing the video, Michelle said, "We’ve endured so much this past year, from the devastation of the pandemic to the ups and downs of a hard-won election. But what has perhaps stayed with me most is the passionate message of justice and empathy that has defined the Black Lives Matter protests around the world."

She added how she wants the example of Hutchinson as people are distorting the "unity and righteousness of these protests". Hutchinson had said that he had instinctively decided to protect the protester and shared, "My real focus was on avoiding a catastrophe, all of a sudden the narrative changes into 'Black Lives Matters, youngsters kill protesters.' That was the message we were trying to avoid."

Obama on the other hand, is basking in the success of 'A Promised Land’, his book which was released in November this year. It sold nearly 890,000 copies in the US and Canada in its first 24 hours, putting it on track to be the best-selling presidential memoir in modern history. The 768-page memoir which was reported to have sold "a tad more" than the former first lady's.
