Michelle Obama shares family Christmas card, wishes season 'filled with friends, family and joy'
Former first lady Michelle Obama shared the Obama family's Christmas card on Instagram on December 23 as she sent everyone well wishes from her family of four and their two dogs, Sunny and Bo. Along with the card, she also wrote a message to her Instagram followers from the Obama family, wishing everyone a happy holiday season "filled with friends, family and joy".
"Wishing you a holiday season filled with friends, family, and joy,'' she wrote in the caption. "Thanks to so many of you for sharing your hopes and goals with me these past few weeks in the comments and on my Instagram Story."
"This type of positive and thoughtful engagement from my 'Becoming family' is a reminder that there are millions of us out there constantly striving to become more mindful, compassionate, and caring people," she continued. "As we end this decade and begin the next one, let’s continue working to become even better — for ourselves and for each other."
The Obama family has had a busy year with Sasha going off to college, Malian celebrating her 21st birthday, and the former first lady touring across the country to promote her best-selling memoir 'Becoming'. Meanwhile, the former president has been working on his own memoir about his time in the White House.
The family's Christmas card reads: "We wish you a holiday season that sparkles with magic and wonder, and a new year that's filled with peace and hope." The signatures in the card also include a couple of paw prints from Bo and Sunny, the family's famous Portuguese water dogs.
The former first couple generally takes out time during the holidays to give back to the society, whether it's Barack putting on a Santa hat and visiting a children's hospital or the whole family visiting a group of US Marines in Hawaii, Obama's home state.
The Obama family's Christmas card follows the holiday greetings revealed by the British royal couples, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
