What happened to Bella Fontenelle?
Jefferson Parish Coroner Dr Gerry Cvitanovich concluded that Bella died due to "multiple injuries," indicating that she was murdered. However, the exact method by which the murder was allegedly carried out remains unknown, and no official cause of death has been released yet. Michael also shares a seven-year-old daughter with Bella's mother and the child was left unharmed and was not reported missing.
A disturbing surveillance footage has surfaced allegedly showing Landon casually dragging a bucket, suspected to contain Bella's body, through the suburban streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. The footage, filmed by a neighbor, shows the suspected killer using a wagon that contained a white bucket, where the child's lifeless body was stuffed inside, and walking in the direction of the child's mother's house. "To know that she was pulling a little baby stuffed into a bucket makes you physically ill," Ken Livaudais said. "We believe Bella was killed at the father's house and then transported over to the mother's house and then taken out of a wagon," said Sheriff Joseph Lopinto
Bella's parents were 'extremely upset'
Further, Landon voluntarily walked into a police station and was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation. She was arrested the morning after Bella was found, at around 8.20 am, cops confirmed. Landon is charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. She is currently being held without bond at Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, according to the Times-Pacayune.
A scheduled hearing for Landon was canceled on the day of her arrest as she was on suicide watch. If she is convicted of Bella's murder, she could face the death penalty under Louisiana law. As of now, Bella's father Michael has not issued a public statement regarding the tragic murder of his daughter. According to local authorities, both of Bella's parents were understandably "extremely upset." "As you can imagine, both him and the mother are extremely upset, as you would expect of anyone who lost a 6-year-old child unexpectedly," said Sheriff Lopinto.
