In the clip, Flynn can be heard egging on the crowd before the pledge, saying, "I want you to hear, not just listen, every single word of the Pledge of Allegiance. That is our pledge to each other, that is our pledge to this country. It's a Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America. So put your hand over your heart, take your hats off here. Place your hand over your heart."
He then begins the pledge, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America," before trailing off and going silent. He then rejoins the crowd at "Under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". Here's the original video, posted by Filipkowski. He tweeted alleging that Flynn had forgotten the wrods, "Michael Flynn this afternoon was called up to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at Lin Wood’s rally AND HE FORGOT THE WORDS!!! What kind of “Patriot” General doesn’t know the Pledge!"

'He couldn't bring himself to say it'

"It doesn’t surprise me a bit that Mike Flynn doesn’t know the words to the pledge of allegiance. These GQP are performative clowns who actually hate America and want to see it destroyed," another said slamming Flynn.

"The reason Republicans like Michael Flynn have trouble with the Pledge of Allegiance, is because they fundamentally don't believe in, "LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL" tweeted one person. Another person slammed Flynn with his tweet, "Of course Mike Flynn doesn’t know the words to the Pledge of Allegiance. Most traitors to our republic have blocked them from their mind." Another chimed in saying: "I bet he knows the Russian version." Flynn had pleaded guilty in December 2017 to lying to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the US at the time, Sergey Kislyak. Flynn had twice pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

One commented, "Imagine being a retired Lieutenant General who is so far down the QAnon rabbit hole that you forget the pledge of allegiance". Another was clearly amused and tweeted, "I watched that clip of Michael Flynn pumping up the crowd for a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance before promptly forgetting the words and laughed my ass off. These people are so thoroughly beyond parody."

It's unclear if Flynn actually forgot the pledge or if something else happened.
