Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones pay heartwarming tribute to Kirk Douglas: 'Sleep tight'
Catherine Zeta-Jones led the tributes for her late father-in-law Kirk Douglas with a black and white photo she shared of him on social media. Catherine took to Instagram to share, "To my darling Kirk, I shall love you for the rest of my life. I miss you already. Sleep tight..."
Douglas passed away at the age of 103 on Fenruary 5, after which many celebrities and fans took to various social media platforms to share their tributes to the legend.
Douglas' son, Michael, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt and emotional tribute to his father alongside a black and white picture of a young Kirk. During his tribute, Michael spoke about how Kirk was a great father, a wonderful husband, and a loving grandfather.
"To me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great-grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband," Michael wrote.
"Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad - I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son. #KirkDouglas," he continued.
Sylvester Stallone posted a picture of a poster from Douglas' 1949 film 'Champion' where he had played the role of a boxer. Stallone wrote on Instagram, "KIRK DOUGLAS !!! The last great giant of my cinema heroes has passed on to Infinite glory. Amazing artist! The likes of which we will never ever see again!"
Steven Spielberg, who presented Douglas with an honorary Oscar at the Academy Awards in 1996, paid tribute to the Hollywood legend in a statement, "Kirk retained his movie star charisma right to the end of his wonderful life and I’m honored to have been a small part of his last 45 years. I will miss his handwritten notes, letters and fatherly advice, and his wisdom and courage – even beyond such a breathtaking body of work – are enough to inspire me for the rest of mine."
