Hard rock maestros Metallica have come out with another special edition of Metallica Mondays, a weekly showcase of Metallica gigs that they've pulled out of their massive archive for fans to enjoy, and it's all free of charge. Metallica began streaming concerts every Monday for fans who were cooped up at home during the coronavirus quarantine period, and these livestreams also serve as weekly fundraisers for people who have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The shows are currently available to view on demand every Monday night at 8 pm ET on Metallica's Facebook and Youtube pages. This week, frontman/guitarist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Rob Trujillo lay siege to a familiar stomping ground for Metallica, the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany, which they visited on June 13, 2004.

This is the second time Metallica shared a concert from Munich on Metallica Mondays, and the third time they've showcased a show from Germany itself. This set comes from their polarizing St Anger era when most fans were notably unhappy with the sound and direction the band had taken on their eight studio album 'St Anger' from 2003.

Thankfully it was merely a wobble in the road, as Metallica took note of their supporters' dissent and went back to an old-school sound on their next album, 'Death Magnetic' in 2008. But plenty of 'St Anger' songs like the title track and 'Frantic' still pack a meaty punch in retrospect, and this setlist from Munich is full of considerable bangers as well as some brilliant old-school classics. You can check out the complete setlist here below.

In the comments section, viewers were excited talking about the opportunity to see some rarely played classics, which usually never saw the light of day at live Metallica shows. As one fan noted, "Good thing about St Anger was the tour setlist: 'Blackened', 'Damage Inc' and 'Dyers Eve' same night? Awesome." Another longtime listener chimed in, "Tonight's setlist is so cool. But there are only 2 tracks from St Anger I think it should be more BUT it's really nice to see Dyers eve and Damage Inc. here. I Love it!!"

Another fan admitted, "For some reason, I was under the impression that this era was a low point in their live show quality, but apparently I was extremely mistaken. They sound f***ing incredible!" As always, Metallica will be using this Metallica Mondays showcase to raise funds for people around the world who have been directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Through their partnership with the All Within My Hands Foundation, Feeding America and Direct Relief, Metallica will be looking to provide financial, medical and food aid to the people who need it the most, so please donate generously if you can afford to do so. Make sure you stay tuned to their Facebook and YouTube pages for more entertainment in the coming weeks.
