How hard can it be to convince your potential girlfriend that you are not really a human but a cat who transforms into one in her presence? Hong-jo (Kim Myung-soo) finds himself trying to do exactly this in 'Meow: The Secret Boy' Episode 9. He has finally built up enough courage to reveal the truth to Sol-ah (Shin Ye-eun) but before he can confess it to her, Sol-ah receives a call from her stepmother who reveals that her son Bang Gok-bang (Yeon Jae-Hyeong) has already arrived. For Sol-ah, who believes that Hong-jo is actually Gok-bang, this comes as a shock.

Hong-jo doesn't back down either and tries to tell Sol-ah the truth about himself and how a cat is able to transform into a human. Surprisingly though, even after hearing about the real Gok-bong having arrived home, she is not ready to believe what Hong-jo says. She thinks that Hong-jo is spewing nonsense and continues to believe the same until she meets the real Gok-bang. Then everything in her life unravels as she now has to accept the truth.

Hong-jo is a cat, and he only transforms into a human in Sol-ah's presence or if he has something on him that belongs to Sol-ah. Something like the ring. All of the explanation about how Hong-jo transforms into a human and what makes the transformation possible is something that Jae-sun tells Sol-ah because Hong-jo cannot do so himself. Just moments before, in a fit of rage Jae-sun (Seo Ji Hoon) had snatched the collar with Sol-ah ring and unintentionally dropped it at the beach. So Hong-jo ends up remaining a cat waiting for his collar or for Sol-ah to come to transform.

So when Sol-ah finally faces Hong-jo at the beach, he is a cat who transforms in front of her eyes and that is the only thing that really convinces Sol-ah. A lot of about how she had so far seen Hong-jo her cat and the human he transformed into changed in just a moment as she is now only left with uncertainty. She is uncertain about how to treat Hong-jo and she feels alienated from the cat too and all of that has left her conflicted. She also tries to share her story with the real Gok-bang and weirdly, it is this stranger's words which gives her a semblance of sanity.

He doesn't write off her claim about a cat transforming into human and instead tries to explain to her that traveling opens one's eyes to ideas that otherwise may seem absurd. He says that in such stories, love is more a miracle than anything and that is what keeps running at the back of Sol-ah's mind. However, she now seems uncomfortable in Hong-jo's presence and this hurts Hong-jo as expected.

No, he is not exactly abandoned. However, this sudden discomfort in his company might see them drift apart.

New episodes of 'Meow: The Secret Boy' will air on Wednesday and Thursday' on KBS2 at 10 pm.
