‘Memories of the Alhambra’, our current K-drama obsession, is coming to an end with just two more episodes remaining. While the thought of saying goodbye to Jin Woo (Hyun Bin), Hee Joo (Park Shin-hye) and Se Joo (Chenyeol) is quite heartbreaking, getting close to the end also means that will get a closer to understanding of the mysteries that had us scratching our heads for nearly two months.
After searching for her brother – the game creator - for 14 episodes, Hee Joo finally found him in the previous aired episode 14 of the Netflix/tvN drama. As we figured out last week, Emma – who is created in the image of the game creator’s noona - is one of the most powerful aspects of the game. Jin Woo, who also realized the same thing, handed over the key to Emma after reaching the 100th level.
In the split-second after he does this, he vanishes, thereby saving himself from being imprisoned by the police that were chasing him. While he is safe in the real world, for now, he has vanished – much like Se Joo did. Even though Hee Joo and Director Park (Lee Seung-joon) looked for him everywhere, they could not trace him.
On the other hand, though, Se Joo is back. Min Joo (Lee Re), who spots her older brother in the dark that night calls out to Hee Joo. Our heroine has been searching for her brother for far too long, and breaks down upon seeing him. While she is ecstatic about his return, it remains to be seen how she reacts to the fact that her brother’s return coincides with her boyfriend’s disappearance.
That being said, we now have someone who was hiding in the game return to the real world, and it might not take two years to find Jin Woo.
By next week’s finale episodes, we will get to learn more about where Se Joo was and how he returned, and hopefully that information can be used to find Jin Woo.
There are some pessimistic fans who believe that the show is not going to give us the happy ending we want. Jin Woo would get trapped in the game forever, and if Hee Joo wants to meet him she would have to go into the game too. However, the way Hee Joo and Jin Woo’s love story has been woven so beautifully, it would be such a waste to keep them separated, and I believe they will get a happy ending, with then reuniting, Jin Woo getting reinstated as the CEO of J One Holdings, after getting cleared of the murder charges against him.
The final two episodes of 'Memories of the Alhambra' are going to be very fast-paced and action-packed, so don’t forget to watch it, come January 19 and 20 via Netflix or tvN.
