The tweet is the former model’s first public statement about Russia’s military offensive against Ukraine since it began last week. She has been keeping a relatively low social media profile since her husband left office, tweeting only occasionally.

Melania's remarks directly contrast with former President Donald Trump's statement, during which he praised Vladimir Putin's plan to invade Ukraine, calling it 'genius.' While speaking on a conservative podcast, the 45th President insisted that Russian troops would never have advanced if he was still in office.

He wrote in a statement, "If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all."

However, there are some who are wary about the donation link that she put in her tweet, wondering it might be an unregistered charity, which, might not help Ukraine's people but might go into Trump's pockets. A user commented, "How do you plan to steal these donations?". "Is there a more direct way to donate that skips the Trump's ? not sure we can trust that link", another wrote.

"How much did you donate, Melania? That's what we thought", a user tweeted.  Another also said, "I will donate to a fund actually helping Ukranian people. Not to a fund for legal fees, loan repayments, spa treatments, new "kidneys, or a lavish life style. My money will actually get to people who need it!"

Some also commented about her husband, Donald Trump supporting Putin saying that her tweeting about such stuff does not mean anything, a user wrote, "You don’t get to sit by and support your sugar daddy while he praises Putin and then tweet this nonsense out."
