When Melania Trump was introduced to the Trump family back in 1998, at the age of 28, niece Mary said that "she was mocked in front of the whole family." In an explosive book titled, 'Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man' set to release on July 14, President Donald Trump's niece, Mary Trump wrote that her uncle decided to introduce the current first lady to his family when they had all gathered for a Father's Day meal in June of that year. Mary said that her other uncle, Robert was the first one who noticed that Melania barely spoke during the gathering.

“Melania was five years younger than I was. She sat slightly sideways next to Donald with her ankles crossed,” Mary wrote. “I was struck by how smooth she looked.” She added that when she attempted to explain that Melania might have been keeping quiet because she didn't speak much English, Robert apparently said, “No, she knows what she’s here for.” Mary's revelation also proved that Trump introduced Melania to his family before he was officially divorced from his second wife, Marla Maples. Although the pair were separated at the time, they did not divorce until 1999.

Donald’s apartment in Trump Tower was described by the president's niece as “even colder and less like a home” than the Trump family house in the Queens borough of New York City. She also went onto recall other details of the family gathering. For example, she said that Trump kept on insulting her during the dinner. Donald said Mary “dropped out of college,” which the niece said was true. But then he went on to claim his niece’s behavior “was really bad for a while” alleging that she “started doing drugs” — which Mary disputed.

According to Mary, Melania asked, “Really?” at that point which was among the few times that people actually heard the first lady speak. Donald went on that Mary was a “total disaster.” Trump eventually married then-Melania Knauss, who was a former Slovenia model in January 2005 and welcomed their son, Barron, in March 2006.

The White House press office has released a statement discrediting the book. "Mary Trump and her book’s publisher may claim to be acting in the public interest, but this book is clearly in the author’s own financial self-interest," spokesperson Sarah Matthews told The Sun. "President Trump has been in office for over three years working on behalf of the American people – why speak out now? The President describes the relationship he had with his father as warm and said his father was very good to him. He said his father was loving and not at all hard on him as a child."

Moreover, Trump has claimed in an Axios interview a while back that "She’s not allowed to write a book." "When we settled with her and her brother, who I do have a good relationship with – she’s got a brother Fred, who I do have a good relationship with, but when we settled, she has a total… signed a nondisclosure," he said. He added that is "considered suing" his niece for the NDA.

On the other hand, Mary has said that re-electing Trump would be catastrophic because “lying, playing to the lowest common denominator, cheating, and sowing division are all he knows.” “By the time this book is published, hundreds of thousands of American lives will have been sacrificed on the altar of Donald’s hubris and willful ignorance,” she wrote. “If he is afforded a second term, it would be the end of American Democracy.”
