NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: As a significant conflict escalates into a war between Israel and Palestine, the media faces another critical challenge in its capacity to disseminate inaccurate and deceptive narratives.

At the heart of this issue is the recently rebranded social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, which has drawn widespread attention for its role in spreading disinformation to millions of individuals due to its lax content moderation policies.

Journalist Mehdi Hasan, who has been actively sharing updates about the conflict on his X account, has also made it his mission to highlight the platform's shortcomings in providing accurate information about the war.

Mehdi Hasan comes to the defense of Gazans as they get attacked for Hamas' terrorism

Over the weekend, the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which has maintained control over the Gaza Strip for decades, initiated a surprise attack on Israel.

In a recent post, the MSNBC host tackled the issue of numerous X users taking sides against the people of Gaza due to the actions of their leadership.

"I see some folks on this hellsite claiming whatever happens to Gazans in the coming days is on them for electing Hamas," Hasan's post read.

He went on to clarify that the Gazan population does not have control over the leadership of Hamas and that drawing a parallel to Bin Laden's past statements is an unfair comparison.

"1) There hasn't been an election in Gaza for 17 years. 2) It's literally the same unhinged argument Bin Laden made to justify killing American civilians."

To emphasize his point, he attached the quote from Laden to his post which read, "So the American people are the ones who fund the attacks against us, and they are the ones who oversee the expenditure of these monies in the way they wish, through their elected candidates." - Osama Bin Laden murderous screed in 2002."

His tweet went viral and garnered over 30 thousand likes in under 12 hours.

The journalist had previously posted, calling out social media users for seeking self-gratification through heated debates over the Israel-Palestine conflict.

"Hundreds of innocent people are dead, including kids, and folks on this website on all sides are using the tragedy to score points, settle scores, and behave like mindless amoral partisans," Hasan's post read.

He went on to call this "the worst of humanity on display."
