Meghan McCain slammed for reaction to Whoopi Goldberg's eye-roll, Internet says 'everything is not about you'
No sooner did Whoopi Goldberg eye-roll at Meghan McCain during a discussion about Oprah Winfrey's latest interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that she went viral on social media. As many laughed at and with her, McCain took to Twitter to share her reaction.
"Bums me out," she wrote in response to a tweet from a publication that linked details of the exchange between the two on Tuesday, March 9, on 'The View'. The tweet has now been deleted.

On Tuesday, Goldberg spoke about Piers Morgan walking off of 'Good Morning Britain' in the middle of a controversial discussion over the palace. On that episode of 'The View', McCain described herself as a "red-blooded, 100 percent American who" celebrates freedom anyway she can.
"Monarchies are stupid, the American experiment is the way to go," she added. "If we have two American women - Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey - who are single-handedly finishing what George Washington and our Revolutionary counterparts did, I'm all for it," she continued on the show.
Following McCain's statement, Goldberg paused for a good few seconds, shook her head and then responded in a simple, measured manner, "Okay". And with her response, earned viral attention on social media.
McCain might have deleted the post but that did not stop many on social media from ripping her apart. "I bums me out you’re still on the @TheView," one tweeted while another said, "Bums me out that you make everything about you when it’s not about you.@TheView." Another user tweeted, "What bums me out is your hypocrisy."

Later on Tuesday, March 9, McCain had taken to Twitter to explain her stand further. "I am extremely patriotic," she said. "I love the founding fathers. I don't know why this is shocking or confusing for anyone has met me for even five seconds..." But for McCain it might have already been late as many were furious with her attempts of drawing a parallel between her experiences and that of Meghan Markle.

During the taping of the show, McCain had likened her experience to that of Meghan and went on to talk about it at length, but that was not received well. "In no way am I comparing any of my life experiences to Meghan Markle," she had said.
She continued, "but, I do know what it's like to be on a TV show or a political campaign where people are leaking stories about you with the sole intention to make you look bad, and let me tell you, it would do a number on your mental health like you wouldn't believe. It will make you feel isolated. It will make you feel paranoid."
Many on social media have called out McCain for her tweets too. "There’s a difference between being extremely patriotic and sounding like a clown," one tweeted while another said, "It’s just that you always make everything about YOU!" A user said, "Nobody cares and your patriotism has nothing to do with the monarchy."

According to Page Six, an insider revealed, "The only thing they have in common is their name. If the staff and producers liked you, those stories wouldn't be getting out," the source said."You don't see them getting out about anyone else. No one's running around talking about Whoopi. 'It's shocking how [McCain] behaves. If she doesn't want things leaked, don't do things to get leaked."
