'Worst plotline': Meghan McCain threatens to quit watching 'RHOSLC' amid Heather Gay's black-eye drama

'This is the worst plot line and if she got it by falling on that plant but did this for faux drama it’s sublimely stupid,' Meghan McCain posted

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH: The latest episode of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' has sent fans into a frenzy with footage of Heather Gay and her mystery black eye. Meghan McCain, who is a television personality and daughter of politician John McCain, has now entered the chat, calling it the "worst plotline."

The scene in which Heather reveals her injuries had been teased since before the third season of Bravo's series began, having shown in the teaser for the new installment earlier this year. 'RHOSLC' viewers are still in the dark as to how Heather received the painful-looking wound, despite the fact that the events surrounding her injury have now been portrayed on screen. In recent episodes of 'RHOSLC,' all of the ladies, with the exception of Angie Harrington, traveled to San Diego for a girls' trip, where some cast members argued as they tried to work out their issues. Last week's episode saw matters come to a head over a tense dinner, but the ladies appeared to make apologies and party the night away, with Heather being spotted retiring to bed at about 4 am.

During the episode, Heather was shown on a night-time camera answering the door to someone who had knocked at her room at 4.50 am at the 'RHOSLC' cast's San Diego hotel. Heather then texted Meredith Marks to come to her room the next morning, when she showed her bruised and swollen eye. In the latest episode, which ran on December 21, glimpses of the previous evening were shown, showing the ladies dancing at a club and having a fantastic time despite the prior disagreements. Jen Shah was later spotted visiting Heather the next morning and grilling her about what occurred the night before. "I don't wanna get anyone in trouble, Jen, but that's why I need you to, like, help me figure out if someone wants to talk about what really happened last night. We need a cover story is what I'm saying right now," Heather, who had scrapes on her arm, explained.

Meredith then joined the two in the room as the previous episode's ending video of Heather showing her eye to Meredith was displayed. Then, despite earlier claims that whoever had knocked on Heather's door had hurt her, it was revealed that many of the ladies had entered her room after she had gone to bed and that they had continued the party and enjoyed themselves. Heather claimed to Jen and Meredith that she didn't know what occurred, despite the fact that she'd just informed Jen that she needed a "cover story," and she refused to say anything else throughout the episode.

"You know what happened," Meredith stated to Heather, who replied, "I don't recall."

Heather later told the rest of the group about her injuries, stating, "We're not sure what happened last night, but things got a little rough," before removing her sunglasses.

"Well, I think we all know what happened. I just think we don't wanna talk about it," she went on to confuse her other cast members.

Heather was seen telling a producer what she thought occurred during her solo confessional interview, to which she replied, "Well, what does it look like?... I'm just gonna shut down, and I'm not gonna talk about it."

"So you're not going to tell us what happened?" a producer subsequently inquired as Heather stated, "Well, I can't, and that's the game of all of this. Like, I'm not gonna say it until somebody else says it, you know what I mean? Like, I'm not gonna spew my theories until everybody spews theirs. Like, this is just a game of, like, Texas Hold'em, and nobody is showing their cards."

As the episode came to a conclusion, viewers were no closer to learning the truth about Heather's eye, as the producer asked Heather who she was attempting to protect, to which the actress replied, "Myself."

So, perhaps we still don't have a satisfactory answer. However, this appears to suggest that Heather was not attacked. One thing is certain: no one from the series has explained what the heck is going on. Of course, this leaves 'RHOSLC' followers to speculate and be concerned. Heather tumbled down the stairs or somehow wounded herself while under the influence of alcohol, according to the most reasonable explanation. But this is Bravo, so we must keep the 'RHOSLC' mystery alive for as long as possible.

As the last episode of 'RHOSLC' aired, people expressed their outrage about Heather's injuries and the fact that they still don't know what occurred. One fan speculated that Heather's face was injured and she received a black eye as a result of the branches near her front entrance and an unintentional fall. Other fans are merely curious about what occurred and when they will get answers.

Meghan McCain expressed her dissatisfaction with the narrative on Twitter. She wrote, "Just going to leave this here - if we never find out how Heather Gay got her black eye on #RHOSLC, I will never watch this Salt Lake franchise again. This is the worst plot line and if she got it by falling on that plant but did this for faux drama it’s sublimely stupid."

A follower of Meghan tried to put her out of her misery by replying, "She said to read her book Bad Mormon, which I think she got the idea from you as y’all are practically twins." To whom, Meghan had replied, "I’m not reading sh*t - I’m watching a reality show."

Others joined in calling the season 'terrible' as they write, "This season is terrible....I think they are weak on storylines and they will DRAG this out until the reunion....Potomac and Miami are where it's at!" Questioning the production, another viewer wrote, "watched the episode last night and it’s probably one of the worst cliffhangers on any of the housewives shows. Flipping from they all know but won’t say, to not really knowing, not wanting to get “someone” in trouble etc. So weird. Yet production didn’t see anything?" Another fan tweeted, "I never thought I’d agree with Meghan McCain." Another fan theory read, "I don’t think it happened the night she said it did. I’m not a doctor but i think bruising takes longer than that to go purple."

Is Heather's black eye on 'RHOSLC' the consequence of yet another disastrous ladies' vacation with her co-stars? That's another explanation for what happened to her right now. You can catch 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' Wednesdays at 8 pm EST on Bravo.
